What is IPL?

IPL technology – also known as Intense Pulsed Light technology – is actually not a laser treatment. It is designed to reduce the cycle of hair growth by targeting the hair root or follicle. IPL uses multi-spectrum lights which means IPL energy is scattered and much weaker. This is the difference from laser tech. So people can use an IPL hair removal device at home. Light energy is transferred through the skin’s surface and is absorbed by the melanin present in the hair shaft.

The energy is converted to heat energy (below the surface of the skin), which disables the hair follicle preventing further growth. So, the IPL tech is not good for everyone, because it is based on melanin.

Suggest Skin Color

We suggest light to medium skin tones. Dark skin contains more melanin, it could absorb more than the safe amount of light energy, which may cause discomfort.

Suggest Hair Color

Golden yellow, Dark brown, Dark black are good for IPL hair removal. Light blonde, Red, Gray, or White hair is not good for IPL tech. These hair colors have low melanin and cannot absorb light energy well.
